Sonal Mansigh‘Fest 2010’- Spic Macay’s celebrations for its 33nd year presented yet another memorable evening with a performance by the dancing legend Smt. Sonal Mansingh.


Organised at the National Law University, the evening gave an ecstatic experience to the gathering. Commencing the show with Mangla Charan, the Odissi dancer continued her phenomenal performance with Rasa like Veer Rasa and Hasya Rasa. Giving the depiction of bravery through Veer Rasa, Sonal ji portrayed the strength and incomparable vigor of Lord Krishna where he fights Kaliya Naag. Hasya Rasa on the other hand was the depiction of fun and frolic where Lord Krishna’s childhood days are shown. Giving a personal touch to the Rasas, the dancer performed on the songs, ‘Maar Diya Jae Ya Chod Diya Jae’ and ‘Hum Kale Hai To Kya Hua’, where the former depicted vigor and the latter depicted fun.


Adding flavor to the unforgettable presentation, Sonal ji impressed the audience with textual pieces like Sakuntalam. “People say that Indian classical music and dance is an endangered species but I believe it to be a misconception,” said Sonal ji. “Girl child is not the weakness but the strength of the family. I feel sad for people who speak against women rights,” added the dancer during an interaction with the audience. Sonal Mansigh
